Anti-Social Behaviour- 14/04/2026- Further Update |
||
|
Dear residents of Westgate on Sea,
I have been conducting enquiries into the anti-social behaviour experienced in Westgate on Sea on Tuesday 14th April 2026, which was heavily covered on social media platforms.
I am extremely grateful to residents who contacted me about these issues and provided information and names of the persons involved. Kent Police have been able to develop a comprehensive understanding of what happened that day, who was involved and have secured key evidence in the form of a video.
Three members of the group have attended Margate Police Station today with their parents and spoken with me about their involvement in this incident. These were peripheral members, who are not suspects for the investigation into an offence of a racially aggravated public order offence, and were assisting Kent Police with their enquiries.
All have explained their involvement in the incident, been given suitable advice about who they associate with in the future, and how they can become involved in crime and anti-social behaviour simply by being part of the group. The three persons spoken with were highly receptive of the advice and expressed remorse about this incident. I must also recognise that their parents also contacted me directly, engaged well with Kent Police, and were very helpful with our enquiries.
The racially aggravated public order offence will be progressed as an investigation and the named suspect will be considered for an interview under caution.
With kind regards Steve | ||
